The agony of stereotyping holds Black women back
In the US, 13 August 2020, was Black Women’s Equal Pay Day for 2019—the day when Black women’s average earnings finally equal those of the average white man—which means it took Black women more than a year and a half to match a white man’s annual earnings. On that day, ironically, powerful white men labeled Joe Biden’s newly chosen running mate, Kamala Harris, a ‘ho’ (and most recently a beast and a monster) and ineligible for office because her parents were immigrants.
