Dr. Stewart, a Black woman and practicing psychiatrist for over 40 years, discussed the challenges faced by Black men and women in their careers and the underlying psychological barriers contributing to their underrepresentation. She emphasized the low representation of Black women in STEM professions and the significant number of low-income and minority high school students missing out on advanced math and science courses.
